Haley Snell-Sparapany
MS, RD, LD, CEDS
I am a registered dietitian experienced in nutrition counseling for a variety of nutrition-related concerns and delivering nutrition education at a university setting.
I grew up in Illinois and started my dietetics training at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. At this time, I also worked as a dietetic intern at an eating disorder treatment center, planning meals for their IOP. I completed my dietetic internship at the University of Minnesota-The Emily Program before I moved to Indiana where I obtained my master’s degree in Nutrition Science from Purdue University. Throughout my graduate program, I was conducting research focused on iron deficiency in the bariatric population. At the same time, I was the Graduate Assistant with Nutrition Education Programs at Purdue Recreation and Wellness, where I did one-on-one nutrition counseling, collaborated with providers on the Eating Disorder Treatment Team, supervised cooking instructors in Purdue’s Demonstration Kitchen, and provided nutrition education throughout the campus and community.
I moved to Albuquerque in January of 2020, and alongside working with DietitiansABQ, I am a registered dietitian with ARCA.
When I think about nutrition, I believe that it is not only about what you put into your body, but it is also about your relationship with food. I am a strong believer in “all foods fit,” and that we should aim for variety, balance, and moderation, without feeling the need to avoid the foods that we truly enjoy.
